Welcome to this website where I blog about everything to do with writing, and it’s geared towards kids. Why kids? Because I find them super enthusiastic about learning and life, and things they like. They are not afraid to make mistakes, and they are willing to practice and improve all sorts of skills.
On this website you will find:
-nifty writing tips
-ideas for improving your writing
-grammar help
-vocabulary boosters
-on-line courses
-news about local live courses
-PDF themed bundles to complete on your own time
I will be uploading these a bit at a time, so check back often to see what is new!
I assume if you’re here that you like writing, would like to improve it, and want to know how.
If you’re just getting back to school and haven’t written all summer, then your writing might be a little rusty. Your brain might be rusty too. It might hurt your hand to hold a pen or pencil for too long. Time to get you out of lazy holiday mode!
Get a blank piece of paper out. Get 4 different coloured pens or pencils out. Choose your favourite colours or bright colours. Are you ready?

Draw a medium-sized cloud with each of your 4 colours. You’re going to have 4 clouds on your piece of paper.
In the first cloud write a short phrase about something you did this summer. It can be something as brief as: went on holiday or I had ice cream by the beach.
In the second cloud write down one thing you wished you had done this summer.
In the third cloud write down what your ideal summer would be. This would be your favourite, absolute best, never to be forgotten summer.
In the fourth cloud write down your worst summer memory.
Now choose one of your 4 clouds to work with. Ready? Close your eyes and think of all the details that went into that cloud memory, whether it was something you did, something you wish you had done, your idea of the best summer ever, or your most disappointing summer.
See it in your mind like a story that you are relating to someone. You might need to practice it a few times in your head.
Now I want you to do one of two things: either find someone to tell your story to, or turn the page over and write it out.

You can tell the story to an adult, a friend, a neighbour, a sibling, or you can write it out nicely on the back of your sheet of paper.
If you have a binder, file your sheet in it.
Guess what you did today? You got the gears in your brain grinding again. You wrote a bit or a lot. You thought of a story. You shared it orally or in writing.
Well done!
Stay tuned for more posts.
In the comments you can let me know which cloud memory you chose, how you shared it (orally or in writing), and with whom.
